For the bean stew with bacon, rinse the beans with cold water and drain well. Chop the onion finely and the bacon into small cubes. Heat some olive oil in a pot and fry the bacon together with the onion. Add the beans, ketchup and honey and season with salt and – depending on the desired spiciness – more or less cayenne pepper. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a boil.

Meanwhile, fry the prosciutto in a pan in a little olive oil until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Fry the slices of brown bread in the same pan until crispy. Arrange the bean stew in deep plates, place the slices of prosciutto on top and serve with the crispy toasted brown bread.
